Life is hectic. It is a busy, crazy mess that blends together and escapes faster than we breathe. When life becomes overwhelming the Lord creates moments where all I can do is marvel at what is going on. Lately I have been reflecting on these instances and realizing what blessings they are in my life. As sinful as I am, the Lord continues to bless me in these freeze frames of earthly perfection.
Below are a few of my favorites:
- A few weeks ago I was sitting in Hyde Park square reading Little Bee. Cincinnati has recently put pianos around the city, free for anyone to play. As I sat on a bench and read a man walked to the piano and began to play and sing Let it Be, my absolute favorite song. It was quiet and the square was filled with the melodic tune reminding me to let go and Let God.
- When I go home my mom and I watch countless hours of Gilmore Girls. Sitting on the curvy green couch with my mom besides me reminds me of the incredible love she has for me.
- This summer in Hilton Head, my dad and I went on a walk on the beach. I looked toward the water and saw two dolphins swimming side by side. As it turns out dolphins swim at the same rate as we walk. For a minute we were the only two to see them and they swam right along our path.
- God blessed me with fabulous friends in Charlotte. In the last year we were there I would sit around Laura’s table and laugh until my stomach hurt.
- Last week at El Toro, four girls – perhaps some queso in the hair, mostly empty glasses, unbelievable Thursday night.
Obviously life has its challenges and some days it is a never-ending series of unfortunate events. It absolutely hasn’t always been easy but I know that when I need it most the, Lord is going to plan one of these moments for me.
